The Focus on Film and Movies
As of 2004 we have become increasingly interested in the film and move business. As crazy as the statement may sound, investing in movies (if the movie is done right) can be more rewarding than other investments. We have partnerships and associations with agencies, production companies, writers, producers, actors, musicians, and others to know that great things can be done without the pain the drain of money.
The days of the big Hollywood studio spending 200 millions dollars, 100 million dollars, or even 50 million dollars are over as they were. The majority of new movies coming out are indies, International films, and very low budget. As we mentioned on our first page, some recent movies have been made for under 30 or 40 thousand dollars and have gone on to make millions if not hundreds of millions of dollars. Do you want to be a part of that?
Let's look at a few simple facts. The typical Hollywood budget is around 50 to 200 million dollars. A low budget independent film is usually around 300 thousand to 6 million dollars. The problem there is this; when you try to sell the movie you might not make that much or you might break even. What if the move only took $50,000 to $150,000 to make? Then you most assuredly are more able to make money. Lets say the movie took about $25 thousand to make. Well than, selling it for $250,000 is a big deal isn't it?
The thing that Hollywood forgot is this; it's all about the script. They do the new versions of new versions of old versions of ..... junk. Nothing new. Nothing cool. Hollywood thinks if they blow something up and have a hot chick in front of the camera than they got a hit. Wow! A good script, a few good actors directed by a decent director, some good lighting, good music, and a good edit and bam!!!! You got a great movie.
Have you looked at anything on TV lately? The common phrase most people say these days is this, "500 channels and there is nothing on I want to watch." Well, the funny thing is that many of those (horrible and quite boring) movies went straight to video, DVD, and then cable and actually made money. They were made for $200,000 or $300,000 and then were sold for $500,000 or a million dollars. A crappy movie can still sell for $300,000. Can you believe this? This is how desperate Hollywood is for something. Well if you think about it, they have to fill up all those channels with SOMETHING.
Now imagine that you actually have a good script. Imagine that you have a great production company behind you. Imagine that you have good music and good actors. Now imagine that all these people are around you and they actually have experience making films. Welcome to our world. This is it. You are here and we have these people all around us.
This is all a reality. This is not dream land. We have great partnerships and associations with many talented people and businesses. And so this is why we are associated and interested in the film and movie business; not just because we do it and we know it and we have other people and companies at hand, but because it is a money making proposition. In our opinion, investing in movies (if the movie is done right) can be so much more profitable than almost any other investment. Everyone at one time or another has fantasized about having their name in lights. What a cool way to have your name come up in the begriming of a movie as "producer" but know that you are making money. It's not just fun or cool but you are making money just like the guy who owns the laundromat down the corner or the guy who owns the Internet business that makes money while he sleep.
